We sat down with our founder Bruce and asked all the questions you\u2019ve been dying to!<\/h3>

First of all Bruce, lets get the important ones in - Where do you bowl and how long have you been bowling for?<\/strong><\/p>

I bowl at Abbotsford B.C. in Galashiels, Scottish Borders. It\u2019s a fantastic club, I absolutely love the members there. When I joined with my wife at the start of the 2023 season I was honestly bowled over by how welcoming everyone was. Pardon the pun!<\/p>

So was 2023 your first season?<\/strong><\/p>

It was yes, although I had played socially a couple of times before. But as soon as the season got underway and I became involved in competitions and the league B team I was absolutely hooked. What I thought would be a twice a month roll up turned out to be at least twice a week league, comps, hat nights and more. I even ended up playing indoor all through the winter.<\/p>

What prompted you to take up bowling?<\/strong><\/p>

Well although I\u2019ve only been playing a couple of years, I\u2019m preceded by 6 Uncles, 2 Aunties, 2 Cousins, my Mum, Dad and 10 year old daughter - all members at Abbotsford B.C. It was getting to the point where it was easier to go see them at the Bowling Club rather than at home, so I thought I\u2019d be aswell joining - glad I did!<\/p>

Yard On Apparel\u2019s bold graphics and design stand out compared to other bowling brands - where do you get inspiration from?<\/strong><\/p>

The green without a doubt! There is a huge wealth of phrases, words and unique characters that I\u2019ve only ever heard or seen on a bowling green. Taking those and combining them with 10 years of design experience, gave me the look and feel for the branding and our launch collection of Tees, Hoodies & Jumpers.<\/p>

What was the eureka moment - what prompted you to found Yard On Apparel?<\/strong><\/p>

I don\u2019t have any love for standard polyester bowls shirts - I never feel comfy in them, they don\u2019t provide much heat when it\u2019s cool and when the sun shines they don\u2019t let your skin breathe. A cotton tee is what I feel most comfortable in on the green and I was surprised to find that there wasn\u2019t a great deal of choice out there in the bowling world. So I don\u2019t know when the exact moment was but it was pretty early on that I decided if no-one else was offering what I wanted then why not make it myself?<\/p>

What goals have you set for Yard On Apparel\u2019s first 12 months in business?<\/strong><\/p>

My main priority is to build trust with our customers and the bowling community. That is more important to me this coming year than anything else - we are the new kid in town competing for attention with some big brands in the world of bowls. We want everyone to know who we are and what we are about which is why we appreciate every like and share on social media, every club house conversation and of course every one of our customers who wear our Tees, Hoodies, Shorts and Joggers on greens across the world.<\/p>

What has been your best sellers since launch?<\/strong><\/p>

We have sold a good mix across the Mens, Womens and Kids ranges but Hoodies in general have been our top sellers closely followed by our HURRY HURRY TEE - a favourite of mine as it was the first Tee I designed for our launch collection.<\/p>

Why should bowlers considering making a purchase from Yard On Apparel?<\/strong><\/p>

Comfort, quality and great designs is the easy answer but there are many more! We are also invested in sustainability and looking after our environment - How many other pieces of clothing do you own with a QR code that lets you send it back free of charge for recycling when you\u2019re done with it? Then give you store credit for doing so?<\/p>

I truly believe we offer great products on multiple levels.Don\u2019t just take my word for it though, check out the reviews on our product pages.<\/p>

Running Yard On Apparel isn\u2019t your full time job - how much time every week do you put into the business?<\/strong><\/p>

No it isn\u2019t, my 9-5 is designing kitchens which I enjoy nearly as much as designing clothing! At least a couple of hours everyday is spent building the business, whether it\u2019s website maintenance, designing new products, social media or general admin.<\/p>

Thanks for taking the time to answer some questions. Finally - Any sneak peaks or exclusives for us?<\/strong><\/p>

Oh, well a lot is happening just now actually. I\u2019m currently working on our next collection of Tees which is pencilled in to launch end of September\/start of October. Dare I say that Christmas isn\u2019t that far away so you can expect to see a few new products and gift bundles appearing around October and this week I am quality checking a new Limited Edition Tee that I am very excited to launch as it has been requested by nearly everyone at my club!<\/p>
